In online marketing, is it better to target a massive market or a much smaller niche market? Without having to consider the options, I can say that dealing with the smaller niche market will be much better. Here are five reasons you should market to a niche.

Reason #1: You will appear more desirable to your market group. When a person has a specific problem, then they will be more likely to be searching for a product that is tailor-made to solve that specific problem. Individuals will be more inclined to purchase the product if the product is more relevant to their own individual needs.

The majority of the time, individuals seem to think that their problems are their own and no on else has had them before nor has anyone else ever had to deal with them. All individuals can find similar problems in the same market as research has shown us. Due to individuals viewing their problem as being unique, they will want a solution which is specially designed for them and will not hesitate to pay for it.

Reason #2: The buyer sees products and services as much relevant in niche marketing. People place higher values on solutions that are specific to their problems. However, when individuals look at a product as being worth more, then the charge for that product tends to be higher.

Reason #3: The third benefit of niche marketing is that your name and brand will spread more quickly. In a niche, people tend to share with each other the discoveries they have made to their own problems and the solutions they have found for them. Through the word of mouth, you and your efforts are able to gain momentum when individuals begin talking about the solution you are offering to their own problem. People in the same niche tend to go to the same meetings, listen to the same people, share the same friends, and read the same publications.

Reason #4: It is easier and less expensive to market to people in a niche than to a mass market. A niche market allows you to focus more on an individual’s specific problem than a mass market does due to large audience, which can be difficult. It is easier to narrow your choice of publications to place your ads when you spend money on advertising.

Reason #5: You face much less competition marketing in a niche market than you will in a massive or broader market. There are many cases in niche marketing where your products might be the only one available, which will be huge advantage to you. When your are perceived as an authority figure within your niche:

• individuals will want to hear what you have to say

• individuals will not care to pay more for what you are selling

• people talk about you

• industry publications will ask you to write articles and you get opportunities to speak

• your product will have fewer knockoffs

As a result, it is recommended that your marketing efforts be narrowed down to a niche market or even down to a micro niche market. For instance, when using a product to train dogs you might want to focus your marketing efforts on training cute and adorable puppies such as Miniature Eskimo puppies or Great Dane puppies. You will find by doing so, more people will pay attention to what you have to say, and your sales will increase.
